About Dr Saad Bahr

Dr. Saadeldin Bahr is a remarkable physician and humanitarian with a passion for serving others. He holds an M.B.Ch.B. degree in Medicine and Surgery from both Alexandria University and the University of British Columbia, then the Canadian Board and fellowship, where he has dedicated his career to helping those in need. Before immigrating to Canada, Dr. Bahr worked with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), where he made countless contributions worldwide in relief and humanitarian/medical work towards distressed people and refugees at various locations.

In Canada, Dr. Bahr has made a significant impact in establishing the Muslim community in the Tri Cities region of Vancouver lower mainland. In 1995, he rented a place at his own cost and effort to gather the community for Friday and the five daily prayers and to celebrate Islamic events and Eids.

He also started a weekend school for Muslim families and children. From 1998 until 2003, Dr. Bahr established one of the biggest Islamic Centers in western Canada and the USA. Without Dr. Bahr’s dedication, the Islamic Cultural Centre and Masjid Alhidayah would not have been established. With Dr. Bahr’s great dedication to fundraising, especially from his network overseas, and his sacrifices with his time and family to follow up with contractors and engineers, Masjid Alhidayah and the Islamic Cultural Centre were completed and officially opened in August 2003.
Dr. Bahr’s dedication to the community and fundraising efforts did not stop with the establishment of the Islamic Cultural Centre and Masjid Alhidayah. He continued to help financially in establishing two more Masjids and Islamic Centres in the lower mainland, Masjid-u-Salaam of Burnaby and Jamie Masjid and Islamic Centre of Surrey. Dr. Bahr’s great leadership and dedication to serving the community have resulted in the delivery of numerous programs and services to both Muslims and non-Muslims.
Dr. Bahr’s contributions have not gone unnoticed as he has been featured in several publications and media outlets for his humanitarian work. But his proudest achievements remain the consistent education of Islam towards non muslims at large which has led to 377 of them reverting to Islam to this day.
Dr. Bahr is a devoted family man, with his family always coming first. He is the proud father of five sons, and his children have followed in his footsteps, contributing to the community in their own ways. Dr. Bahr’s commitment to serving others and creating a better world is an example for all of us to follow. We owe Dr. Bahr a great debt of gratitude for his service to humanity and the community, and we wish him all the best for his future endeavours.
